College Rodeo: NAU on a roll at weekend Stampede

DICKINSON, N.D. - National American University won the men's division and South Dakota State University captured the women's title at the Blue Hawk Stampede over the weekend.
The Mavericks tallied 605 points to out-distance the host Dickinson State, which was second with 485 points. South Dakota State finished third with 475 points followed by Black Hills State with 240.
Tait Kivstad of SDSU won the steer wrestling on his way to the men's all-around title with 175 points. B.J. Brown of NAU was second in the steer wrestling and third in the all-around with 150 points.
The Mavericks went 1-2 in the tie-down roping as Tyler Thiel won in 22.9 seconds. Deon Dorsey marked a :23.3 for second.
The Jackrabbit women edged the Maverick women 527-1/2-465, with Iowa Central Community College third and the University of Wisconsin-River Falls fourth.
NAU's Jessica Painter held off SDSU's Marcie Locken and Jacque Murray to win the women's all-around crown. Painter totaled 200 points while Locken had 187-1/2 and Murray had 185.
Locken captured the breakaway roping, while Murray won the goat tying.
Two Mavs paired to win the team roping, as Chance Schuknecht and Jessica Hemphill were timed 19.2 seconds.
