The Rapid City Stevens boys soccer team was given the Good Sportsmanship Trophy for the Class AA boys division at conclusion of the 2007 state soccer tournament that wrapped up Saturday at Aberdeen.

Field marshals, tournament officials and referees report to the tournament committee those teams that demonstrate good or bad sportsmanship during the course of the four-day tournament.

Criteria for the award include courtesy and respect a team’s players and coaches show toward their opponent’s players, coaches and fans, and the tournament referees and officials. Other criteria include positive support given to teammates, a team’s reaction to a win or loss, the number of red and yellow cards a team receives during the tournament and the team’s general attitude.

Other Good Sportsmanship award winners were Brookings, Class AA girls; Vermillion, Class A girls; and Freeman Academy, Class A boys.
