It took three Rapid City police officers and others about 40 minutes Thursday morning to control a small herd of black Angus cattle strolling on the bike path.
The "cowboy" officers responded to a report of cattle on the sidewalk near 20 Deadwood Ave. about 9:40 a.m., according to police logs
After wandering towards Mountain View Road and Omaha Street, the herd of about a dozen bovines found the creek and headed east on the bike path.
The cattle were corralled and back in their pasture by 10:18 a.m.
