The Rapid City Rush got a rude awakening in a 6-0 preseason loss to the Colorado Eagles in Loveland, Colo. on Saturday.
The most shots the Rush got on net in a period was four as the expansion team was outshot 47-11 in the game.
The Eagles’ offense wasted no time putting pressure on the net as Erik Adams scored on a powerplay 5 minutes, 15 seconds into the game. Steve Haddon and Riley Nelson netted a goal each before the period ended.
The Rush gave up only one goal in the second as Todd Reimann and Haddon found Adam Hogg open for a shot.
Ryan Tobler scored the Eagles’ final two goals in the third period, the last on a short-handed play.
Eagle goalie Andrew Penner earned the shutout win. Lanny Ramage stopped 41-of-47 shots for the Rapid City team.
The Rush return to Loveland, Colo., on Friday to begin the season with the Colorado Eagles.
