Two Oregon men traveling with a 6-year-old child were arrested Thursday on multiple drug charges after a traffic stop by Box Elder police officers.
Justin Buchanon, 27, of Grants Pass, Ore., was stopped at the Elk Vale Road Interstate 90 interchange for driving into oncoming traffic. He and passenger Clarence Whitmore, 33, also of Grants Pass, were arrested on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of controlled substances and various other drug-related offenses, as well as traffic violations. A search of their vehicle and belongings produced several bags of marijuana concealed in the engine and other compartments.
According to Chief of Police John Keegan, the child is in the custody of the Department of Social Services Child Protective Services pending further investigation of guardianship and status.
