The Black Hills State University and South Dakota School of Mines & Technology football teams will look to get on the winning side on Saturday, while Chadron State College shoots for its second straight win.
The Yellow Jackets host Western State in their annual Swarm Days Homecoming contest at 1 p.m., while Mines is at Central Washington, beginning at 2 p.m. MT. The Eagles host Adams State in their Homecoming contest at 1 p.m.
In Spearfish, both teams enter the contest looking for their first win. Last week the Yellow Jackets, 0-3, 0-5, fell 48-7 to Colorado Mesa and Western State fell 31-24 to Chadron State.
The Hardrockers had won their previous three games before falling at home to nationally ranked No. 16 Humboldt State, 59-10, this past weekend at O’Harra Stadium.
The Hardrockers and the Central Washington Wildcats both sit at 3-2 overall, however the Wildcats are 1-0 in the conference while the Hardrockers have lost their lone conference matchup. The Wildcats have played and beaten two other GNAC members, but those games did not count towards the conference standings.
For Chadron State, sophomore quarterback Matt Vinson started the first game of his college career last week in the win over Western State, and the former Douglas High School star completed 25 of 39 passes for 266 yards and one touchdown.
Adams State is 1-4 on the season. The Grizzlies' victory was the 52-51 double overtime triumph over Western State.
Black Hills State University and South Dakota School of Mines will host Regis University and Chadron State this weekend in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference volleyball action.
On Friday, BHSU will host Chadron State and Mines will take on Regis. Both matches begin at 7 p.m. On Saturday the teams will flip-flop, with Mines hosting Chadron State at 3 p.m. and Black Hills State hosting Regis at 5:30 p.m.
Regis is 5-1 in RMAC play and 8-7 on the season, while Chadron State is 3-3 and 4-10. The Yellow Jackets are 2-3 and 5-10, while Mines sits at 1-6 and 4-12.
The South Dakota School of Mines men’s soccer returns to RMAC play with a pair of road games in Colorado this weekend. Friday the Hardrockers will face University of Colorado-Colorado Springs and on Sunday they take on MSU-Denver in Denver.
UCCS (6-3) 4-1 in the RMAC. UCCS was ranked 10th regionally in the National Soccer Coaches Association of American Division II poll, published Sept. 29.
MSU-Denver is 4-2 in the conference and 6-3-1 overall.
The Hardrockers are 1-4-0 in RMAC play and 1-8-1 overall.
Black Hills State and South Dakota School of Mines will take part in the MSUB Yellow Jacket Invitational on Friday in Billings, Mont.
The BHSU men, idle last week, are ranked 20th in the country. The Yellow Jackets won the Griak Invitational in Minneapolis two weeks ago.
The Hardrocker men are coming off a team win at the Martin Luther College Invite.
The RMAC Championships are set for Oct. 24 in Alamosa, Colo.
