Former Chadron State running back Danny Woodhead has found a home with the San Diego Chargers and is hoping to take his connection with Philip Rivers to the playoffs this year.
I know there are a lot of Broncos fans around here that find it hard to cheer for the Bolts and particularly Rivers, but if there's a guy in the NFL that you want to root for it's Woodhead.
I have to admit that ever since I first covered him in person at Chadron, I knew he was an NFL player, whether he would get a legit shot was the only question I had. I've only seen a handful of guys in my life (in any sport) where I said, "He's a pro" when he was in high school or college -- and Woodhead was one of them. The man just possesses absolutely supernatural quickness and balance.
He's gone from being about as big an underdog as you could find with the Jets and Patriots to finally finding a place where he's really wanted in San Diego. When you add in the fact that he's just about one of the nicest guys you could meet, it's impossible not to root for him.
