A two-day workshop on farm and ranch operation will be offered Friday and Saturday, Sept. 21 and 22, at Dakota Sioux Casino & Hotel in Watertown.

The workshop, "Taking Charge Of Your Operation," is being sponsored by the South Dakota Farmers Union Foundation.

According to Julie Bartling, South Dakota Farmers Union Foundation executive director, the interactive workshop will feature speakers on a variety of topics including estate planning, carbon credits, strategic marketing techniques, budgeting, insurance and an update on the 2007 farm bill in Congress.

On Saturday, workshop participants will tour an agricultural facility and then attend the Beef Bowl game at South Dakota State University in Brookings.

Workshop cost is $35 per person or $50 per couple. Farmers Union members receive a $10 discount. Registration includes lodging for Friday night, transportation to Brookings and tickets to the football game. The workshop is limited to the first 50 paid registrants.

For more information, contact Julie Bartling at the South Dakota Farmers Union Foundation, at 1-605-352-6761 ext. 115.
