The South Dakota Cooperative Extension Service will host a training session for horse judges Oct. 5-6.

The session takes place at the Animal Science Building at South Dakota State University.

Events begin with an optional session from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Oct. 5 that covers mechanics, ethics and the scoring system.

The Oct. 6 seminar begins at 7:30 a.m. and continues through the day, with a written exam at 6 p.m.

The seminar will cover the classes featured at the State 4-H Horse Show, the Danish system, and the 4-H philosophy. The seminar is open to all and costs $10 for spectators and $30 for those who seek certification. Certified judge candidates also must complete a questionnaire.
