If you're an adult child, and you're trying to help your mother or father find a good care facility, you're not alone anymore.
Gael Meyer-Johnson, who owns Sunny Hill Senior Center in Lead, said she often got requests from families who had no idea how to find a good home for their elderly mom or dad.
"People would call me in tears, needing help with placements," she said
So she cooked up the idea of a free Web site, www.myseniorsolution.com, which features all the state's care facilities. Besides basic information such as names and addresses, listings include information about the type of facility and the kinds of insurance that can be used.
For a fee, care centers can add emphasis to their center's listing, and include a Web link, a photo and updates on available beds.
"I know if I was looking for my mom, I would want to see what the facility looks like," Meyer-Johnson said.

Customers get a
window sneak peek
Windows, windows and more windows. That's what Ricky Williams has in mind for his new business, V2K Window Decor & More. Williams and his family recently moved into the area from Colorado. With Williams' help, a customer can pick from a wide range of window treatments. But that's only after a customer gets a good look at the results through the magic of a special computer program that will render the room and window treatments. That way, customers can see what they'll get before they buy. Williams operates the business out of his home. To contact him, call 342-2990 or e-mail him at rickywilliams@v2k.com
New magazine covers area pop culture
Flyest Magazine, a new pop-culture publication in the Black Hills, has a go-getter for an editor-in-chief and publisher. While still finishing up classes at National American University, A.J. Johnson said he decided to start up the full-color, glossy magazine after hearing complaints there was nothing to do in the area. He'll fill his pages with events and activities, as well as profiles of the area's interesting and fashionable, he said.
Running his own show, Johnson is following in his father's footsteps.
"I've always wanted to run my own business," he said.
The first issue features columns about finances and the history of rock 'n' roll and includes interviews with local rapper KOD, burlesque performers Flaunt and cover model Sunnie Antar. The inaugural issue of Flyest Magazine is in racks around town. It's free.
The magazine's Web site is at www.flyestmag.com
Hermosa restaurant features Mexican food
Amid the usual American steaks and pizza, you can now get a real south-of-the-border taste in Hermosa. Mindy Gomez and husband Alejandro Gomez-Munoz recently opened El Restaurante Hermosa. Beside patty melts and hamburgers, you can get the real thing.
"All our food is authentic," Gomez said. "Everybody that comes in says it's like old Mexico."
The authenticity even extends to the beverages: Horchata is rice milk with cinnamon, and the tamarindo is similar to a bitter tea, Gomez said.
The restaurant is at 13 Second St., next to the senior center and the American Legion. The number is 255-4546.
