We Are South Dakota Virtual Choir 2013
The Orlando Chamber Soloists announces the completion and release of “We Are South Dakota Virtual Choir 2013.” A press conference and official presentation of the video is scheduled on Monday, November 4, at 11 AM at the Dahl Arts Center in Rapid City. The press conference will include an introduction of the video creation process by Artistic Director/Producer, Dawn Marie Edwards and video presentation, followed by Q&A.
“We Are South Dakota Virtual Choir 2013” is a 15-month community collaborative effort including 160 voices, native drums and the professional musicians of the Orlando Chamber Soloists in residence at the Dahl Arts Center every summer. The video features children ages 2-18 from throughout the Black Hills and Pine Ridge, each recorded individually and combined into a mass virtual choir singing in Lakota and English. This community project included more than 40 Black Hills collaborative partners.
The virtual choir is a chance for each child to be a part of something bigger than themselves. The music and score was arranged so that every child interested could play or sing a part regardless of their musical experience or age.
