The annual Parade of Lights in Chadron will move to a new day this year, taking place on Thursday, Dec. 7.

The KCSR/KBPY Parade of Lights theme for the year is “Peace on Earth.” The parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the corner of First and Main streets and end at Fifth Street.

Entry forms, available at the radio station and at, are due Dec. 6 by 5 p.m. Cash prizes will be awarded for first through third places. Late entries will be placed at the end of the parade and will not be eligible for prizes.

Parade participants need to report to the check-in point on First Street by 6 p.m. Dec. 7. Candy or other items may not be thrown from floats or vehicles, but can be distributed by persons walking near the crowd.

KCSR/KBPY is also accepting entries for the 2017 Snow Princess. The Snow Princess will serve as the parade’s grand marshall. Entries are due by 4 p.m. Dec. 5. Girls ages 6-11 are eligible to enter the contest. Application forms are available at the radio station and online at
