Several Festival of Trees are planned throughout the Northern Hills this week.

Get your fill of Christmas trees with all the trimmings this year at several events in the Northern Hills. 

The Homestake Opera House invites the public to attend its 35th Annual Festival of Trees Vintage Holiday Celebration in the theater at 313 W. Main Street in Lead.

Experience the beautiful building with its lobbies and foyer decorated and the theater showing off recent restoration, open to the public starting Wednesday, Nov. 30, through Saturday, Dec. 2, with decorated trees, wreaths and vintage items for live and silent auction.

Enjoy free hot chocolate, apple cider, music, and holiday treats throughout the event.

Admission for the event is by donation to the HHOH, or by pet food for the Twin City Animal Shelter or people food for The Lord's Cupboard Food Pantry, both in Lead.

The Zonta Club of Spearfish is hosting the community's 26th annual Festival of Trees. 

Held at the Spearfish Park Pavilion, the event will take place from Nov. 29 to Dec. 2. The hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 29; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 30; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 1; and 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 2.

It is free to attend, though donations of canned or boxed food are requested for the Spearfish Food Pantry.

On Nov. 29-30 there will be school tours, and there will be a senior tea from 2 to 4 p.m. on Nov. 30. 

There will also be an auction and social event on Dec. 1. The social time lasts from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and auction begins at 7 p.m. Admission is $25.

On Dec. 2, there will be a Saturday with Santa from 9 a.m. to noon. Story time is from 10 a.m. to noon, with a free book for each child while supplies last. Admission is free. 

Also on Dec. 2, the Newell Festival of Trees will open at 9 a.m. at Newell City Hall. The tree preview will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a free lunch at 11:30 a.m.; holiday activities from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., including a visit by Santa Claus and a bike giveaway; entertainment from 2 to 4 p.m.; wine and cheese tasting at 3 p.m.; tree auction at 4 p.m.; skating from 6 to 9 p.m.; and a live band at 9 p.m.

Admission is two cans of a non-perishable food item per person. All proceeds from the event will go to the Newell Ambulance and Fire Department.

In Belle Fourche, there will be a Festival of Trees from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7, at First Interstate Bank. Contact the Belle Fourche Chamber of Commerce at 892-2676 for more information. 

Sturgis already held its Festival of Trees event on Nov. 17. There will be a tree lighting and holiday kick-off in the community from 6 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 30 downtown. It will start at 6 p.m. at the Harley-Davidson Rally Point, and will include hot chocolate, Christmas carols and a reading of "'Twas the Night Before Christmas."
