Great food specials will be easy to find at the first Deadwood Dine Out next week from Sunday through Thursday.

22 Deadwood businesses will participate in the event, which will see them showing off their favorite dishes at low prices.

The event is part of the Deadwood Revitalization and Main Street Initiative's Promotion Committee's plans to drive business to Deadwood, according to event organizer and Saloon #10 and Deadwood Social Club owner Louie LaLonde.

"We realized that there are 30 restaurants in Deadwood, 22 right at the center, and I think we sometimes forget that there's always something good just downtown," LaLonde said. "We wanted to bring more awareness to people living in Deadwood that there are so many dining options in town."

LaLonde said that the idea came in part after seeing Rapid City's successful Restaurant Week.

"We thought we'd give it a whirl, and the response so far as been so positive," LaLonde said.

Deadwood Social Club's specials will include two house favorites: the tuaca pheasant, a pasta with fettuccine, garlic shallots, sun-dried tomato, baby crimini mushrooms in a tuaca (Italian liquor) Alfredo sauce; and Osso Bucco, a braised 20-ounce pork shank with an Italian mirepoix, served with wild rice pilaf.

"These are the specials that we never take off the menu," said Kara Ommen, house manager. "We change up the menu twice a year but those never come off because people love them so much. They're really delightful dinners."

Other participating restaurants include Best Western Hickock House (offering a smothered breakfast burrito), Legends Steakhouse (half-off appetizers), Pump House (a turkey, bacon, apple, cheddar and sourdough panini), Harry's Spaghetti Western (shrimp scampi), Midnight Star (half-price reuben and pastrami sandwiches), and Deadwood Dick's (Indian Taco).

"It's a wide range that runs the gamut from breakfast, lunch and dinner, something for everybody," LaLonde said. "People are excited, and that's what revitalization in the community is all about."

The Celebrity Hotel offers their parking lot for free during the Dine Out. No passes, tickets or coupons are required but reservations are recommended at the participating restaurants.

Some restaurants are only participating on certain days of the week. For a full list of restaurants, specials, and dates, visit deadwood.com/events/deadwooddineout.
