February has plenty of good things going for it. Yes it’s cold and not quite spring, but now that New Year’s resolutions have fizzled, it is time to partake in life’s more pleasurable things such as the celebration of love.

February is a great time to remind your children of the many kind things they can do for others. We will read stories of friendship during our Love Is All Around Story Time from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. on Feb. 7. Children will create animal candy huggers and ladybug valentines to share with friends.

Children will love our LEGO Heart Challenge during LEGO My Library from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 9. Our Erupting LEGO Volcanoes Build explores the science behind the flowing lava that will have them wanting to erupt their volcanoes over and over again.

Repetitive rhythm of mother’s heartbeat is one of the first things a child experiences. Building on their innate love of rhythm, music teaches pattern and rhyme, providing a way for children to express themselves with confidence. We’ll kick up the fun with shakers, bells and boomwhackers during our new Music & Movement event from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Feb. 10.

Show some love for the Humane Society of the Black Hills from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Feb. 11 and meet a handful of Humane Society residents. Create a braided dog toy for your pet or make one for the animals at the shelter. Craft a DIY doghouse-shaped valentine mailbox.

Fall in love with yoga. Attend our community yoga class from 6 to 7 p.m. Feb. 12. Gain strength, flexibility, balance and mindfulness.

K9 Jary and Officer Matt Hower visit the library from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. during our No School Days event Feb. 19. K9 Jary is a Belgian Malinois who joined the RCPD’s K9 Unit in 2016, working with Senior Officer Matt Hower. Jary is certified in obedience and agility, tracking, suspect apprehension, handler and officer protection, building searches, field searches and narcotic detection.

Jared “Cappie” Capp presents Natural Building Techniques during Lunch & Learn from noon to 1 p.m. Feb. 21. Cappie was recently featured on DIY Network’s “Building Off the Grid.” Registration is required.

Gentle Chair Yoga helps you gain mobility through supported poses. Teachers from Sōl Yoga Collective will guide you in a safe and encouraging atmosphere from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Feb. 26.

Finally, Hank Harris’ new CD “Tuesdays” cover popular songs, but torn apart and given Harris’ own distinct style when he performs from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 26.
