Great meals and good deals await during Rapid City Downtown Restaurant Week, which begins Sunday and runs through Jan. 21.

The event sees downtown Rapid City's chefs creating specially crafted menu options for $20 (excluding tax and gratuity), including multiple courses with beverages, main courses, appetizers and desserts. This is the second time the promotion has been held.

"We had really positive feedback from both the restaurants and the diners," said Morgan Levitus, business relations coordinator at Destination Rapid City. "It was wildly successful, and people liked it as a way to celebrate with friends as much as a way to try a new restaurant."

Returning restaurants this year include Botticelli Ristorante Italiano, Delmonico Grill, Firehouse Brewing Company, Gold Bison Grill, Independent Ale House, kol, Murphy's Pub and Grill, Que Pasa and Tally's Silver Spoon. New participants include Philly Ted's Cheezsteaks and Blind Lion Speakeasy.

"Some are offering menu items not normally offered, where others are offering them at a better value price than usual," Levitus said.

Independent Ale House had a blast last year, serving up the Figgy Piggy pizza (with olive oil, garlic, roasted pork belly and more) and gaining new customers.

"Some people came down for the first time, and our regulars got a good deal," said chef Rodney Hemmingson. "The experience was really great."

This year Hemmingson has prepared a new featured pizza with a cream vodka red sauce with roasted garlic, roasted pablano and red bell peppers, shrimp, chorizo sausage, Spanish green olive oil and Manchego cheese.

"It'll have a bit of a Spanish flavor to it," Hemmingson said.

Other specials include Botticelli's grilled Atlantic salmon with lemon, white wine, caper and garlic sauce; Delmonico Grill's 8 ounce prime rib; kol's three-course meal with options such as creole gumbo and braised short rib ravioli; and two specialty cheesesteaks at Philly Ted's.

Other perks include free ice skating in Main Street Square with proof of purchase, with one skate pass provided per meal purchase (valid only within the week).

"I'm excited to try something I haven't tried yet, maybe even new wines and beers," Levitus said. "You can see the great things they have to offer."

Reservations are required at Blind Lion Speakeasy and kol. Reservations are recommended at Tally's Silver Spoon, Murphy's Pub and Grill, Gold Bison Grill, Delmonico Grill and Botticelli's Ristorante Italiano. Reservations are not available at Firehouse Brewing Company, Independent Ale House, Philly Ted's Cheezsteaks or Que Pasa.
