May 19: Booth Day. 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the D.C. Booth Historic National Fish Hatchery & Archives in Spearfish. There will be free hot dogs, prizes, a scavenger hunt, fly fishing and tying flies demonstrations to celebrate the start of the hatchery's summer season. Guided tours at the historic venues and the gift shop will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Cost: Free.

May 19-20: Black Hills Mud Days. Mud races and poker run at Recreational Springs Resort, Lead. On Saturday, there will be mud drag races ($35 registration for adults, $15 for youth 12 and under) and Barbie Jeep races to benefit the Lead/Deadwood Boys & Girls Club (registration is $10). May 18-20: "Harvey." Black Hills Community Theatre presents the Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Mary Chase. Performing Arts Center of Rapid City, 601 Columbus St. Show times are at 7:30 p.m. May 18-19 (Fridays and Saturdays) and at 2 p.m. May 20 (Sundays). Families will see a short science video about sound and then go on a scavenger hunt to see some antique phones, record players, radios, microphones, instruments and printing equipment. Cost: $2 per person or free with museum membership. Reservations suggested; call 723-1200.

May 21, 6 p.m.: PJ Masks Live! Time to be a Hero, Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Fine Arts Theatre, Rapid City.

May 26, 9 a.m. to noon: Play off the Page. Tri-State Museum and Visitor Center, 415 Fifth Ave., in Belle Fourche. The event will consist of some study of the solar system, followed by rehearsal for a reader’s theater play titled “School’s Way Out,” a comedy about young people from Earth and Jupiter who become exchange students at each other’s schools. The play will be performed for friends and family at noon. Cost for participation is $2 per student. Pre-registration is mandatory. Registration deadline is May 23. There is no admission charge to see the play at noon. To register a student, call 723-1200.
