Firehouse auditions, Nov. 27-28

Auditions for the next two Firehouse Brewing theatrical productions: "Dead Man's Cell Phone," and "The Good Doctor" will be held at 6: 30 p.m. Nov. 27 and 28 at the Firehouse Brewing Theatre. Auditions will consist of cold readings from both plays. Prepared monologues are welcome.

Registration opens for art show

SPEARFISH | Applications are now available for the The Matthews Opera House's 39th Winter Art Show.

Applications are available in the art gallery or online. Patrons can be professional or amateur, ages pre-kindergarten and up. There is no geographical requirement to enter the show.

The dates for artists to register their work, with the completed application, is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Jan. 10-13. Fees vary depending on age group.

The 39th Winter Art Show takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Jan. 17-25 in the art gallery.

Write your life story

Stumped for a holiday gift? How about the story of your life. Molly Barari will lead a "Thus Far" writing workshop from 10 a.m. to noon on Dec. 2 and 9 at On Common Ground, Rapid City. The program is open to adults of all ages. Cost is $30 and people should plan to attend both workshops. Writing materials are required, and light refreshments will be served.

John Kay and Steppenwolf to play Sturgis

In other concert announcements: John Kay & Steppenwolf will play at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip for the 2018 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. The band is scheduled to perform on Friday, Aug. 10.

Other announced performers are Eric Church on Aug. 8 and Kid Rock on Aug. 9.
