Rapid City has a new place for brunch at kōl, the popular nightclub/restaurant at 504 Mount Rushmore Road, which is now serving the in-between meal between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

"It's the coolest thing we've done in two years," said owner Tony DeMaro, who started the brunch program nearly two months ago. "It's my favorite meal of the day, but there aren't many spots for it outside of Tally's, and there aren't many options to have a fun brunch."

DeMaro said brunch is his favorite meal and that he wanted to make sure that kōl's brunch menu was unique, "not a typical two eggs and bacon breakfast."

That menu includes a special biscuits and gravy, but with gravy filled with carrots, onions, rosemary, Parmesan and chorizo and a puff pastry in place of the biscuit.

"That's the dish I'm most excited about," DeMaro said. "It's the lightest, fluffiest biscuit you could have with an extra hearty gravy."

Other menu items include chicken and waffle sliders with smoked bacon and maple syrup infused with chili (called the Tree's Knees); a popular breakfast pizza with white Alfredo sauce, Fontina cheese, black forest ham, shaved asparagus and bacon; and huevos rancheros tacos.

"We plan on expanding the menu in the future," DeMaro said. "We started with just a breakfast pizza and now have almost 15 items."

Drinks include bottomless Bloody Marys and mimosas for $9, while the atmosphere is aided by acid jazz playing in the background.

"A guy pulled me aside, saying that he'd been coming for three weeks and most enjoyed that it was so fun," DeMaro said. "Being able to go have breakfast and have fun is very unique to us."
