Young Life hosting chili feed today

HILL CITY - The Hill City Young Life organization will host a chili feed from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. today, Nov. 21, at the Hill City High School Commons.

Pennington County Thrivent Financial for Lutherans also will participate.

Bazaar to help church missions

RAPID CITY - First Church of God, 706 E. Monroe St., will hold its annual bazaar from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today, Nov. 21.

Crafts and white elephant items will be available. Chili, pie and other baked goods will be for sale. Proceeds from the event will support church missions.

Church hosts craft fair, bake sale today

RAPID CITY - The Zion Lutheran Church craft fair and bake sale will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. today, Nov. 21, at the church, 4550 South Highway 16.

Christmas crafts, pies and other baked goods will be available and lunch will be served.

Church selling homemade lefse

RAPID CITY - The men's group of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church will sell homemade lefse from noon to 3 p.m. (or until supplies last) on Sunday, Nov. 22, in the church parish hall.

Advent prayer workshop set

RAPID CITY - A Prelude to Advent prayer workshop will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at St. Martin Monastery. For more information, call Sister Marmion Howe at 342-8011.

Parents Day Out offers fun for kids

STURGIS - Blessed Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 2942 Pine Tree Trail, will host a Parents Day Out from 9 a.m. to

3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28. Children ages 4-12 will be able to spend the day at the church making and wrapping gifts for parents, eating lunch and watching a Christmas movie.

Cost will be $20 per child or $25 if not pre-registered (discounts given for more than one child per family, and children of

deployed military personnel may come at no cost).

Thanksgiving services planned

Area churches give thanks at Thanksgiving services:

* The Rapid City Christian Science Church, Seventh and Columbus streets, will hold a Thanksgiving service at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 26. The service includes the presidential Thanksgiving proclamation, an opportunity for those attending to speak in thanking God, hymns and a Bible lesson sermon. No collection will be taken. Child care is available. For information, call the Christian Science Reading Room at 343-4866.

* The Christian Science Society of Spearfish, 710 Seventh St., will hold its hourlong Thanksgiving service at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 26. The service will include Scriptural readings, passages from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, hymns of joy and praise, and an opportunity to verbally express gratitude for God's goodness, grace and protection. No collection is taken. 

* Abiding Word Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4021 Range Road, will have a Thanksgiving Eve worship service at 7 p.m.

Wednesday, Nov. 25.

* Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 386 Main St. in Hermosa, will host a community Thanksgiving Eve service at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, with Pastor David Piper officiating.  Fellowship will follow the service.
