National Pastoral Musician fall meeting and awards

Rapid City Diocese music ministers and clergy are invited to attend a quarterly National Pastoral Musician meeting on Saturday Oct. 7 at St. Therese Parish on Adams Street in Rapid City. Registration starts at 9 a.m. and the event goes until 3:15 p.m.

The quartly meeting will feature Fr. Kerry Prendiville speaking on “Poetry and the Sacred Word in Liturgy,” and music by St. Martin’s Village Singers, St. Therese Singers, Our Lady of the Black Hills, Joyful Sounds Mixed Quartet, and Chorus Angelorum Mixed Quartet. 

NPM will be handing out two new awards during the event. The Emerging Youth Music Minister Award and The Emerging Music Minister Award both of which will be presented at the business meeting.

There will be a charge of $15 for the catered awards luncheon. Please make checks out to NPM and pre-pay by sending check to Pat McDowell at 4833 Pierre St., Rapid City, SD 57702. Payment is due by Sept. 27. 

Lunch and program with Northern Hills Connection

Northern Hills Connection will hold a noon luncheon on Tuesday at the Sturgis Holiday Inn Express Convention Center. The program will be presented by Maggie Engler of Black Hills Raptor Center. First Church of Christ to host speaker

Spiritual healer, teacher, and interfaith advocate Maryl Walters will speak Thursday, Sept. 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the Christian Science Reading Room at 530 St. Joseph St. in Rapid City. 

Walters will present a free talk titled, “Healing Violence with Divine Love.”

Navy Seal Commander to speak at Free Will Baptist 

A former Navy Seal Commander and current author and evangelist will speak at Free Will Baptist Church in Box Elder on Sunday, Sept. 24 at 6 p.m.
