Boogie for Baesler
South Canyon Lutheran Church will hold a parking lot concert and fundraiser for Larry Baesler, who has been battling cancer, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, at the church, 700 44th St.
The Boogie for Baesler event will feature oldies music by Joyful Noise, a barbecue and a silent auction featuring desserts. Donations will be taken for the meal, which will include hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, baked beans and lemonade. Desserts will be available to purchase through a silent bidding process. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is providing supplemental funding. For more information, call 343-4887.
Free concert
The Smyrna Band will perform praise and worship music at 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, at Calvary Chapel, 320 E. St. Patrick St. in Rapid City. For more information, call 394-5799.
Bake sale
"Flowers of Many Colors," a women's ministry group of St. Isaac Jogues Church, is holding a yard sale, baked goods sale and lunch from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at 823 E. Iowa St. in Rapid City. Lunch will be authentic Indian tacos, coffee, cold drinks and dessert. All proceeds go to charitable projects of the church.
Potluck picnic
Saturday Night Alive will hold at a potluck picnic at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at Canyon Lake Park. The event is at Shelter 3 (off Park Road); look for the yellow Saturday Night Alive banner.
Participants are asked to bring a dish to share,their own non-alcoholic beverage and a lawn game to play with the group. The group will play lawn games after the picnic and possibly take a walk around the park.
Silver City chapel
The Rev. David Cameron will lead services at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, at the Sacred Heart Community Chapel in Silver City. Fellowship will follow, and all are welcome.
Project Church
The first gathering for Project Church (projectchurch.net) will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at Alternative Fuel Coffee House in downtown Rapid City. Project Church hopes to be an authentic community where people can belong before they believe, according to a news release. It is a nondenominational Christian church. Living with Loss
Faith-Based Solutions is sponsoring Living with Loss, a grief recovery group for those who have lost someone close to them.
