Guest speaker
Bruce Blumer of Mitchell will be the guest speaker at the 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. worship services on Sunday, March 2, at Hot Springs United Churches. He will talk about his impressions from his recent experiences in Haiti. He also will be a guest at the church's youth meeting at 4:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall. The public is invited.
Eggs'travaganza
First Christian Church will hold an Easter event for children 2 years old through fifth grade at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, March 16, at Canyon Lake Senior Citizens Center.
Families are invited to enjoy lunch provided by the church, followed by crafts, the resurrection story and an Easter skit. Children will make their own Easter baskets. The event concludes with an Easter egg hunt for different age divisions at the nearby Old Storybook Island Park.

Silent auction
Open Bible Christian Center, 225 E. St. Patrick St., will hold a silent auction from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 15. Proceeds are to benefit Open Bible Christian Center Academy.
Local businesses have donated merchandise and services for the auction. Merchandise to be auctioned includes airfare to Denver, queen-size bed with quilt, organ with bench, microwave oven, specialty baskets, housecleaning, auto supplies, golf merchandise, chocolate, cookies, pet treats, dinners and desserts, tools, auto oil and lube, sewing basket and supplies, cordless drill, kitchen table, chairs and more.
Easter for Kids
Abiding Word Lutheran Church, 4021 Range Road, will hold Easter for Kids from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 8. Labyrinth workshop
The public is invited to learn about the labyrinth as a prayer tool and to experience a Lenten Labyrinth Walk from 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 8, at St. Martin Monastery. Registration is $10. Lenten drama
The witnesses that will be called this week during South Canyon Lutheran Church's weekly Lenten drama, "The State vs. the King of the Jews," are Centurion Quintus Gaius, centurion of the Roman garrison in Jerusalem; Ruth of Samaria, follower of Jesus of Nazareth; and Nicodemus, Pharisee and secret follower of Jesus.
The service begins at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, at the church and is followed by a soup supper.
There is also a weekly Lenten service that begins at 12:10 p.m., followed by soup in the Koinonia Room. The public is invited. The church is located at 700 44th St.
Bible study moves
The Eternal Investments study is relocating Wednesday, March 5, to the Young Life building, 318 Mount Rushmore Road (Accupress basement). Participants are invited to join with men from across the city as Pat Karn and Steve Balsley teach the book of Esther. The study is from 6:45 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. every Wednesday and offers an "eternal" perspective to your day. For more information, call 342-5373.
