Roast beef dinner

Black Hawk Community Church, 5118 Mill Road, will hold a Roast Sirloin of Beef Dinner from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 9. Tickets are $9 and may be bought in advance. All proceeds benefit the church's Outreach Ministries. For more information or to make reservations, call 787-6150.

Health fair

Black Hawk Community Church, 5118 Mill Road, will hold its fourth annual health fair from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 26. This year's theme is "Health and Safety for All Ages." There will be door prizes. Everyone is welcome.

Christian Cowboys

The Fellowship of Christian Cowboys will meet at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at Open Bible Christian Center in Rapid City. All are welcome. For more information, call 754-6126.

Sturgis banquet

Tickets for the 76th annual Mother-Daughter Banquet will be on sale from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 26, at Sturgis United Methodist Church, 1755 Ball Park Road in Sturgis. Cost is $8 for those 10 years of age and older and $4 for children 9 years and younger. After noon Saturday, tickets are available by calling Dorothy Getsgo at 347-5327.

"Anchors Away" is the theme of the banquet and program that will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at Sturgis Community Center Theater. The United Methodist Women are sponsors of the event.

Prison speaker

The Rev. Michele Bradley, pastor of Church of Hope, will speak to the adult Sunday school classes at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, April 27, at First Baptist Church, 707 St. Patrick St. Church of Hope is located in the State Women's Prison at Pierre. All are invited to hear Bradley talk about the prison ministry. For more information, call the church at 343-0342.

Minister ordained

The Elders of First Christian Church, 726 Quincy St., ordained Jared Alan Dupont into Christian ministry on April 20. Dupont is currently serving as the minister of youth and young adults at the church. Dupont received a bachelor's degree in youth ministry from Nebraska Christian College and a master's degree in intercultural studies from Lincoln Christian Seminary. He and his wife, Jennifer, have two children.

Presentation

Kevin G. Graunke, a prayer-based healer who uses the Christian Science system of healing, will give a talk titled "The Certainty of Christian Science Healing" at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 3, in Room 205 of Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. The talk will be held during the Black Hills Area Health & Human Services Fair.

National Day of Prayer

The Dakota Room at Calvary Lutheran Church, 5311 Sheridan Lake Road, will be open for prayer from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m Thursday, May 1, in conjunction with the National Day of Prayer.

There will be resources available for use in prayer or participants can come and use the chapel when convenient. For more information, call the Rev. Deb Hanna at Calvary Lutheran Church at 342-9043.

Open house

Rapid City Christian School will hold an open house from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 27, at its new Hart Ranch campus, 23757 Arena Drive. The public is invited to see the school, meet the teachers, view the school's plans for the future and enjoy refreshments. The school is presently enrolling students for grades 6-12.

Poetry contest

A $1,000 grand prize is being offered in a special religious poetry contest sponsored by the New Jersey Rainbow Poets. In all, $5,000 in prizes will be awarded.

To enter, send one poem only of 21 lines or less to: Free Poetry Contest, 103 N. Wood Ave., No. 32, Linden, NJ 07036. You can also enter online at www.rainbowpoets.com. Deadline for entering is June 14.

Be sure your name and address appears on the page with your poem. If you would like a winners' list, enclose a stamped return envelope.
