Family fun day

Living Word Community Church will hold a Family Fun Day at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 22. There will be events and activities for all ages with and without a horse. For more information, call Laura at 455-2580.

Sacred Sites Day

All nations and all faiths are invited to gather from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 21, at Bear Butte State Park picnic area to pray for world peace and global healing. The local gathering coincides with World Peace & Prayer Day events at sacred sites throughout the world.

New church

Silver City services

Sacred Heart Silver City Community Chapel will hold services at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 8, in Silver City. The Rev. Richard Fischer will lead worship; fellowship will follow. Services are held the second and fourth Sundays of the month during the summer season.

Oneness of Humanity

The Oneness of Humanity Celebration, formerly known as the Race Unity Picnic, will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday, June 8, at the Storybook Island Shelter in Rapid City. A potluck will be at noon, followed by a program at 1 p.m. Cleanup will be at 3 p.m. Master of ceremonies for the event is Shiraz Nelson. The event is sponsored by the Baha'is of Rapid City and the surrounding area.

Catholic Daughters

The Catholic Daughters will hold Mass and installation of new officers at 7 p.m. Monday, June 9, at St. Therese Church. Father Zandri will officiate.

Rodeo Bible Camp

A Rodeo Bible Camp for youths ages 10-13 will be held Tuesday through Friday, June 10-13, in New Underwood. For more information, call John at 390-7061.

Landscaping and golf

Fountain Springs Community Church, 2100 N. Plaza Drive in Rapid City, is asking volunteers to gather at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 7, for some landscaping and maintenance work at the church.

At 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, there will be a Golf Scramble with dinner. Proceeds from the "best ball" tournament will go to sending church youths to camp and other events.

Meditation seminar

"The Joy of Prayer Scripture" will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 21, at Benedict Hall at St. Martin Monastery. The seminar includes a meditation on the four senses of Scripture, a videotape by Keating and the experience of doing a group prayerful sacred reading. There will be handouts and refreshments.

Rochford services

ROCHFORD - The Rev. Gordon Higgins, retired Methodist pastor from Sturgis, will lead services at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 8, at Rochford Chapel. Fellowship will follow the service.

Chapel in the Hills

The Rev. LeRoy Flagstad will be leading vesper services the week of June 8-14 at Chapel in the Hills in Rapid City. Services begin at 7:30 p.m. each night.

Relay for Life

Saturday Night Alive singles group is putting together an SNA team to participate in the Relay for Life at Sioux Park. Members are asked to wear their yellow T-shirts and walk anytime from 6:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Donations go to the American Cancer Society. For more information, call Lisa at 487-0773.

Taize worship

A service of prayer, song and silence will be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, June 8, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 5311 Sheridan Lake Road. Taize is a meditative service which provides time to rest in God. For more information, call 341-1078 or 341-9043.

Guest speaker

The Rev. Jeremiah Issangya will speak at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Rapid Valley. Issangya is head of the Church of the Lutheran Confession in Tanzania. The public is invited. For more information, call 393-1311.

Eckankar open house

RAPID CITY - The annual Eckankar open house will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 8, at the local ECK Center, upstairs at

628-1/2 Sixth St. in Rapid City, immediately following the 11 a.m. worship service. A luncheon and informal discussion on past lives, dreams and soul travel are on the agenda. Neighborhood party

Black Hawk Community Church, 5118 Mill Road in Black Hawk, will hold a neighborhood block party beginning at noon Saturday, June 14. The John Denley Band will perform at 7 p.m. The event also includes a free clinic with tips and tricks for musicians, food, music and fun games for kids.

Singspiration

The Circuit Riders Quartet from Union Center will perform during the Rimrock Singspiration at 6 p.m. Sunday, June 8, at Rimrock E Free Church, 12200 W. Highway 44 west of Rapid City. All are welcome to join in singing Southern gospel, country Christian and traditional hymns at the event. Refreshments will follow.

Coffee house

Valley Community Church, 5718 Longview Road in Rapid Valley, will hold a coffee house beginning at 7 p.m. Monday, June 9. The film, "Forbidden Peace in the Middle East," will be shown. For more information, call Pastor Wayne at 718-9062.

Red River Boys Choir

The Red River Boys Choir will perform at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 8, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1012 Soo San Drive in Rapid City. The boys, from Fargo, N.D., range in age from 11 to 16. The concert is free and open to the public.
