Taize for Lent

Calvary Lutheran Church, 5311 Sheridan Lake Road, invites the public to come for Taize, songs of prayer and contemplation offering a quiet, meditative service of song, prayer, Scripture and silence at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24. Four-week study

On Sunday, March 2, Foothills Community Baptist Church will begin conducting the "Share Jesus Without Fear" seminar. All individuals are welcome to join in this four-week study. Passover participation

Messiah in the Passover will be conducted by Jennifer Rodgers, a representative of Chosen People Ministries, beginning at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, at Rapid Valley Baptist Church. There will be a traditional Seder table complete with all the articles of Passover. Rodgers will explain the symbolic meanings of the various items of the Passover feast and give special emphasis on how they relate to the New Testament. The church invites both the Christian and Jewish communities to attend. An offering will be taken. For more information, call 393-1375.

Lenten service

This week's Wednesday Lenten service at South Canyon Lutheran Church, 700 44th St., will feature testimony from Caiaphas, the High Priest in Jerusalem, in the weekly presentation of "The State Vs. the King of the Jews," written by Curt M. Joseph. The event begins at 5:45 p.m., and is followed by a soup supper at 6:15 p.m.

There is also a weekly Lenten service at 12:10 p.m., followed by soup in the Koinonia Room. The community is welcome.

Tuesday luncheon

The Tuesday Ladies Salad Luncheon will meet at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 402 Kansas City St. Robbin Ahrlin is the guest speaker. Cost for lunch is $3 or bring a salad to share. For more information, call the church office at 342-9302.

Lenten retreat

Our Lady of the Black Hills, 12365 Sturgis Road, Piedmont, will hold a Lenten retreat in the spirit of Taize on Sunday, March 2. Registration is at 3:30 p.m., with the retreat beginning at 4 p.m. and ending at 8 p.m. A simple dinner will be provided; a freewill offering will be taken. For more information, call the Rev. The Truth Project

Saturday Night Alive will host "The Truth Project" with Dr. Tackett, a Focus on the Family DVD production, beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Christian Life Ministries, 1948 N. Plaza Drive.
