Burning bowl ceremony set for Dec. 31

PIEDMONT - Unity of the Black Hills, 10112 Walnut St. in Piedmont, will have a "burning bowl" ceremony at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31. The ceremony allows one to privately reflect on the past and to symbolically release old beliefs, attitudes and habits that are not welcome in the new year. It is followed by an opportunity to envision and affirm goals and aspirations for the new year. The public is welcome.

Church to host monthly dinner at mission

RAPID CITY - Emmanuel Episcopal Church will host a festive monthly dinner at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, at Cornerstone Rescue Mission in Rapid City. Karen Psiaki will lead a short service before dinner. The event will be served by the Outreach Committee. There will be no Sunday school or adult forum on Dec. 28.

Singles group reschedules banquet

RAPID CITY - Due to the recent blizzard, Saturday Night Alive's Christmas Banquet has been rescheduled. SNA will celebrate Christmas and 24 years of singles ministry at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at Camp Judson near Keystone.

Ken Wrede will present a slide show of the earlier SNA years. There will also be a presentation of current activities and the impact of SNA. The Rev. Dick Nickel will be present for a special evening of sharing. Those who signed up for the December date are asked to confirm their attendance by Jan. 24. Vogts to lead services for 'Main Street Living'

The Rev. Kevin Vogts from Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Dakota Dunes will be the featured speaker for the Sunday, Dec. 28, broadcast of "Main Street Living." The sermon theme is "The Real Meaning of Christmas." The Main Street Living Choir will present the hymns. The service broadcasts at 9 a.m. on KEVN in Rapid City and is interpreted for the hearing impaired.
