PIERRE -- State officials are keeping a close watch on rising rivers and lakes in northeast South Dakota as the flood threat begins to subside in the southeast.
Kristi Turman of the state Office of Emergency Management on Friday said "things are still active in the northeast, so that's kinda where our focus is at."
She says the state continues to put plans in place in case severe flooding occurs.
National Weather Service meteorologist Todd Heitkamp says rivers in the northeast should crest this weekend or early next week.
He says rivers in the southeast have already crested, but some could see a second crest.
