Overnight burglaries Monday at two businesses along East Highway 44 were similar to a rash of burglaries that occurred last week, according to Rapid City police.

The burglar, or burglars, forced their way into the businesses and targeted cash that was easily available, according to Sgt. Peter Ragnone. The similarities between last week’s string of 11 burglaries and the latest two indicate they are probably connected, Ragnone said.

Ragnone is waiting for forensic tests in hopes of finding DNA or fingerprints that will assist in identifying the thieves. Until then, Ragnone advises businesses to store any cash left overnight in a safe or secure it by other means.

Anyone who sees anything suspicious or who may have information on the burglaries is asked to call the Rapid City Police Department at 394-4131.
