Colin Red Day, 22, said he was mad when he stabbed a 23-year-old man on the midway during the Central States Fair in August.
Red Day pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, a Class 3 felony carrying a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison and a $30,000 fine, in court Monday.
Red Day’s attorney said that in exchange for the plea, prosecutors will not charge Red Day as a habitual offender and will ask for a 10-year sentence, with six years suspended.
Red Day remains in custody in the Pennington County Jail until his sentencing Dec. 14.
