ABERDEEN -- A man and woman from Eureka accused of leaving their infant son in a vehicle for more than an hour last October while they were in a restaurant have been sentenced to the two days they already have served in jail.
Forty-six-year-olds Clinton Nieuwsma and Roberta Dulay each pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of contributing to the abuse or cruelty of a minor. Prosecutors dropped felony child abuse charges.
The two received identical sentences - 180 days in jail with 178 days suspended, a year's probation and a $150 fine. They also must take parenting classes.
