KPLO-TV came back on the air Friday. The station's 711-foot tower had collapsed in an ice storm Jan. 22. Cable and satellite viewers were not affected by the tower collapse, but over-the-air viewers had not received the stations programming since the tower was knocked down.
The Federal Communications Commission granted a special temporary authority to the station to transmit from a temporary tower, which is a 330-foot structure on Medicine Butte. The tower signal only covers 70 percent of range of the previous permanent tower.
Plans for a permanent tower are under way.
