Authorities have identified the three children killed Friday in roll-over accident near Kyle on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.

"This was an unfortunate crash," said Chief Everett Little Whiteman of the Oglala Sioux Tribe's Department of Public Safety.

Crystal Reyes, 11, and Suhaul Reyes, 9, died at the scene. Maria Reyes, 1, died later of injuries sustained in the accident.

The children were passengers in a SUV driven by their mother, Erica Reyes.

Reyes apparently lost control of her vehicle on Bureau of Indian Affairs Road # 4 one mile east of Kyle at about 4:35 p.m. Friday. The vehicle rolled when Reyes over corrected.

The children were not wearing seatbelts. One child was thrown from the vehicle.

Alcohol was not a factor in the accident, Little Whiteman said.

The accident remains under investigation by the Department of Public Safety with the assistance of the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
