Free concerts by two 1950s-style rock 'n' roll will headline this year's Kool Deadwood Nites festival in Deadwood Thursday, Aug. 26 through Sunday, Aug. 29.

Friday's free concerts on Main Street begin at 5 p.m. featuring the Kid & Nic Show and DD & The Fayroh's, followed by Friday's headliner Sha Na Na.

Sha Na Na's songs -- and band members -- were featured in "Grease." The group also played at Woodstock and had a hit television show for four years.

Bands hit the stage once again Saturday, beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday's free concerts feature DD & The Fayroh's, as well as The Rat Pack Tribute. Saturday's headliner is The Platters. The Platters had a number of Top 10 hits, including "Only You," "The Great Pretender," "Twilight Time," "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes," and many more.

In addition to the music, automobiles take center stage with a car show, show and shine and classic car parade planned over the long weekend. Other events include an art, memorabilia and classic car auction, a barbecue and a sock hop.
