Two people were killed and one seriously injured early Friday morning in a one-vehicle accident about five miles west of Presho.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol identified the victims as Maci M.Busack, 16, of Kennebec and Alexis A. Bowsher, 19, of Minot, N.D. Both were dead at the scene.
Candace L. Volmer, 21, of Presho was transported to a Chamberlain hospital and then transferred to a Sioux Falls hospital.
According to a news release from state officials, the accident occurred shortly before 4 a.m. on S.D. Highway 248, which is also known as old Highway 16. Three females were traveling east in a 1995 Chevrolet pickup when the driver overcorrected after vehicle drifted toward the left side of the road.
The pickup rolled several times, and all three were thrown from the vehicle. None was wearing seat belts.
The investigation by the South Dakota Highway Patrol is continuing.
The Lyman County Sheriff, Lyman County Abmulance and the Presho Fire Department assisted at the scene.
