Bring me the head of your mother
Not since Ted Williams have I heard a story of cyrogenic freezing as odd as this one.
A Colorado Springs, Colo., woman is fighting the owners of a cyro-freeze business for the right to keep her mother from being cyrogenically frozen -- which also comes with a $50,000 tab. Darlene Robbins says her mother did sign a contract with the company but later changed her mind and left her affairs in the care of her family.
The business, meanwhile, says it's willing to compromise: The family can keep the body, they'll just keep the head.
I can't wait to see how this one turns out.
Tasteless, humorless or both
The spat between former Alaska Gov.-turned TV commentator and author Sarah Palin and the Fox TV animated comedy "Family Guy" has been kicked up a notch.
Palin has lashed out at the series for its portrayal of a Down Syndrome character who says that her mother is the former governor of Alaska. However, the actress who played the Down Syndrome character says that "apparently, (Palin) doesn't have a sense of humor."
The kicker? The actress also has Down Syndrome. She says that her family emphasizes having a sense of humor and that she wasn't making fun of Trig Palin (who also has Down Syndrome), but instead Trig's mother, Sarah.
Road rage in the Wal-Mart parking lot
Remember this story the next time you are trolling the Wal-Mart parking lot for that special parking spot.
A man is hospitalized after being shot by another man in the parking lot of a Florida Wal-Mart. The shooting sprang from an argument between the two, with one man feeling so threatened that he got out a tire iron from his vehicle.
That sparked the other man who pulled out a gun and fired at the other.
The most interesting thing from the video? The assailant, who turned himself in after seeing news reports of the incident, said he left the scene not even knowing he had hit anyone with his gunfire. Gee, you think you might notice something like that.
Deadly waters run swift
It's one thing to read stories about dozens of people being killed in flooding; it takes video to see how bad that flooding really is.
Nary a word in English, just the sounds of deadly waters tearing through Portugal, taking out everything in its path. This video shows how quickly and powerfully Mother Nature can wipe out entire towns.
A different kind of adoption
OK, normally, I don't have much time for videos featuring Chihuahuas. But I'll make an exception on this one.
Two kittens abandoned kittens have found an unexpected adoptive mother in a Chihuahua, a recent new mom herself, who immediately accepted the kittens into her brood.
The kittens, defenseless and adorable now, take to the momma pup quite nicely. The real question, I suppose, is what happens when they grow up and are big enough to beat her up?
