Horse riders and wagons leave Miles City, Mont., on Friday for a 200-mile Old West trail ride on a former stage line to Deadwood in the northern Black Hills.

They're expected to travel 15 to 20 miles a day and arrive in Deadwood on Sept. 4.

Organizers hope to have the Miles City to Deadwood Trail included as a National Historic Trail.

The ride is sponsored by the nonprofit Days of '76 Museum at Deadwood.
