Night of prayer
St. Therese the Little Flower Parish will host the 18th annual National Night of Prayer for Life and America on Friday, Dec. 7.
This event, sponsored by the Pro-Life Commission of the Diocese of Rapid City, is a night of prayer, adoration and song in thanksgiving for life and atonement for abortion.
Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Blase Cupich at 7 p.m., followed by three hours of prayer. The evening concludes with benediction at 10:45 p.m.
The public is welcome to come to any portion of the event.
Ladies luncheon
Tuesday Ladies Luncheon will meet at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, at Trinity Lutheran Church. The guest speaker is Barbara Schenk with Visiting Angels. Cost is $3, or bring a salad to share. For more information, call the church office at 342-9302.
Fundraiser donations
Piedmont Valley Lutheran Church recently donated $1,242 each to Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity and Fischer House, a military medical housing program. The funds were raised by the church at its annual congregational hog roast, with supplemental funds from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
Retirement appeal
Catholic parishes in the Diocese of Rapid City will conduct the 20th annual appeal for the Retirement Fund for the Religious on Dec. 8-9.
The Benedictine Sisters in Rapid City benefit from a grant that is made possible by this appeal. In 2006, the Diocese of Rapid City contributed $22,715.13, an almost 82 percent increase over 2005.

German celebration
Peace Lutheran Church, 219 E. St. Anne St., will hold a German Christmas Celebration from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, with a live nativity from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is a freewill donation of $1 or a can of food. German food, holiday music, Christmas tree stories and displays and children's activities will be included.
