PIERRE -- Livestock producers have long used the South Dakota Brand Board's official brand book to get information about brands and brand owners. The directory now is available on the Internet.

Brand Board director Larry Stearns says the agency has had many requests to put the information online.

The directory includes more than 25,000 brands for cattle, horses, buffalo and sheep. The online directory will be updated monthly to keep up with new brands that are registered and brands that are transferred.

The Brand Board provides livestock owners with a system of identification through brand registration west of the Missouri River.

The brand book is available online at www.sdbrandboard.com
