WATERTOWN | Federal authorities say they have busted a drug and gun ring in South Dakota.

U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says 10 people were arrested as a part of an investigation dubbed "Operation Black Widow" by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Eight of the suspects are from Watertown, one is from Sioux Falls and one is from Deadwood. They range in age from 31 to 72. They face charges ranging from conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine to wire fraud to weapons counts. Six have been released from custody under conditions but four have been detained.

Johnson says the federal Drug Enforcement Administration, the state crime bureau and local law agencies helped in the investigation.
