The man accused of shooting another man to death in a Rapid City motel parking lot in January will go on trial in July.

Circuit Judge Wally Eklund scheduled Charles Birdshead's first-degree manslaughter trial for the week beginning Monday, July 29. The trial is expected to last a week.

Birdshead, 30, was arrested about a week after 30-year-old Eustacio Marrufo's body was found in the parking lot of the South Dakota Rose Inn on East Boulevard on Jan. 7.

Prosecutors claim Marrufo was killed when a drug deal went sour.
