The famous Budweiser Clydesdales will make several appearances in the area during the Sturgis Rally, including during Thursday night's Summer Nights in downtown Rapid City.
The eight-horse hitch will be based at the entrance to the Buffalo Chip Campground, and will travel to various events and venues throughout the week of the rally.
Appearances by the Clydesdales during the rally are among hundreds made annually by the traveling hitches.
The requirements to be a Budweiser Clydesdale are very stringent, according to a press release.
The horse must be at least three years-old, stand approximately six feet at the shoulder, weigh an average of 2,000 pounds, be bay in color, have four white legs, have a blaze of white on the face and have a black mane and tail. They are also chosen for a gentle temperament, because they must interact with many people.
