Oglala Sioux Tribe President Troy "Scott" Weston has issued a burn ban on tribal lands, according to a news release from his office.
Weston said all outdoor open fires, including burn barrels, campfires, bonfires and open pit fires are prohibited until further notice. Ceremonial fires are exempt from the burn ban but must be watched at all times.
Weston cited the hot summer temperatures and dry conditions as the reason for the burn ban and asked the public to report any open fires.
