Six ducks in this year’s Great Black Hills Duck Race have a chance to claim an additional $1 million for their owners on July 28.

The winner is guaranteed $5,000 from Rapid City area McDonald’s restaurants. Med5 Federal Credit Union has pre-selected six “Million Dollar Ducks.” If the first-place duck is one of those six ducks, then it will win $1 million.

“Ready, Set, Duck” is the theme of this year’s race, which benefits the Children’s Miracle Network in the Black Hills. The Drop of the Flock will be at 2 p.m., near the West Main Street McDonald’s. The race ends at Memorial Park. More than $30,000 in prizes will be awarded to this year’s winners: The first 43 ducks to cross the finish line.

The cost to enter a duck in the race is $5 and can be purchased from Duck Race teams, or at the Rapid City Regional Hospital CMN office at 2925 Regional Way, Suite 100. Ducks can be ordered online at
