Five trails in the Mystic Ranger District will be closed temporarily while crews remove trees infested with mountain pine beetles.
Trails 6212, 6213, 6227, 6228 and 6229 on the Merritt Trail System will be closed until logging has been completed, according to a news release from the U.S. Forest Service. The trails are on the northwest portion of the district, west of U.S. Highway 385 and south of Rochford Road.
Other trails in the area are open for use, but motorized trail users are urged to use caution and be aware of heavy equipment and trucks on forest roads.
