The South Dakota state girls high school basketball tournaments got under way today in Rapid City, Watertown and Huron.

In a shocker, No. 2-seed Spearfish was manhandled by No. 7 West Central 58-44 in a Class A first-round game.

Pine Ridge, meanwhile, did what it was expected in the Class A tourney, rolling past Chamberlain 55-34 to advance to the semifinals Friday night.
