Graffitti's car wash on West Main Street will close at the end of this month.

"It came down to where we had to put money in the business, like the equipment and stuff, and we just decided to go a different route," said Kim Benne, who's owned Graffitti's for 12 years. "None of my kids want to take over."

Benne has already leased out the front half of the building - what's currently used as a "dry-down" area for cars after they leave the car wash tunnel - to the Man Salon, which plans to open their second Rapid City location there by Christmas.

For now, Benne plans to continue doing hand washes and detailing in the back part of the building. "But if somebody wants to come in and lease it I'll quit doing that," he said with a chuckle.

Benne said their last day will be Sept. 29, "unless we run out of chemicals by then."

Anyone with unused punch cards can call Graffitti's at 394-9611 for a refund.
