The South Dakota Senate Judiciary Committee will hear testimony on SB108, which would repeal the state’s alienation of affection statute, at 8 a.m. CST, on Jan. 29 in Pierre.

Sen. Stan Adelstein, R-Rapid City, is the prime sponsor of the bill that would eliminate the statute that allows a spouse or parent to sue the person believed to have enticed their loved one away.

Adelstein's bill requires a do-pass from the Judiciary Committee to move it on for the full senate's consideration.
