Alyssa Bernal, 6, Haydon Nickerson, 7, and Megan Bernal, 9, shared a dog sled ride during a mushing demonstration for the Winterfest Snowbash on Saturday at the Kirk Trailhead along the Mickelson Trail outside Lead.

Other events for the weekend-long celebration included snowshoeing, snow sculpture carving and a snowball fight.

"It was kind of scary," Megan Bernal said. "I've never done this before."
