In watching the TV news, Edgar Burr knew his Powerball ticket matched the South Dakota Lottery numbers being reported. But he wasn't sure where he put the Powerball slip from the Valley Corner grocery store.
"I had to hunt around a little for the ticket," Burr revealed Tuesday.
After finding the receipt - in his car's glove compartment - he presented his wife, Aileen, an early birthday present.
"She was so excited, she started jumping up and down," he said.
On Tuesday, the Spearfish couple claimed the $200,000 Powerball prize they won in the Saturday drawing. They finished one number shy of winning the drawing's giant jackpot.
The Burrs, who recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, operate an assisted care facility. The winnings will pay bills, allow some golfing "and having a good time," Edgar Burr said in a news release.
The store wins, too, receiving $10,000 for selling the "quick pick" ticket.
